Christoph was only 23 years old when in 2010 overtook their 14ha family winery, making him still the youngest winemaker in our portfolio. He might be one of the youngest yet he his wines are all display an “old soul”. He knew from the first moment on what he wanted, focusing on the native Blaufränkisch grape and using big barrels in the cellar, just like his Grandfather did. He implemented those changes with an immediate effect and in the coming years he proved himself to be one of the most celebrated young winemakers in Austria. Originating from Deutsch-Schützen, a village bordering with Hungary, he is very proud and aware of his shared Ausrtian-Hungarian cultural identity. As a proof he is using regularly Hungarian words on his labels.
